The Nature Conservancy of Rhode Island has established some new trails and public access within walking distance of my home. What a great source of subject matter that I never knew was so close! It is called the "King Preserve" with several marked trails that lead to Pettasquamscutt Lake and the top of the Narrow River. The historic birthplace and museum of American portrait artist Gilbert Stuart is nearby as well. The trails weave through the woods and over tributaries that lead to the Lake.
One of the prettiest named features is called "The Falls". Certainly not a Niagara, but for painting purposes, it is near perfect. Just below "The Falls" are a couple wobbly boards placed for crossing. I expect to slip off at some point, but have been lucky so far. I took it upon myself to name that spot "Two-Planks", as the first of many locations I hope to depict in the preserve. I hope you enjoy these, and thank you for following!
