Born
in Massachusetts in 1971, Jonathan McPhillips has spent most of his
life in Southern New England. He resides in Rhode Island, and his
artwork reflects the varying scenery of New England. From the coast,
to the urban centers, to the studio, his paintings can be spacious
and dramatic, or intimate and subtle.Jonathan has displayed his work
and garnered numerous awards in many Southern New England galleries.
He is an Artist Member and former Vice President of the Art League
of Rhode Island. Jonathan has instructed painting and drawing, and
has put forth his artwork to many community auctions and fundraising
projects. Such projects include ALRI’s Hall of Master’s
project at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, and the Newport Art Museum’s
2003 Art Unfurled project, in which Jonathan received the “Best
in Fleet” Award. Most recently, Jonathan was approached by the
United States Department of State to participate in The "Art
In Embassies" Program. A painting of his was chosen to stay at
the embassy residency in Vilnius, Lithuania. Jonathan's roster of
